INCIDENT CAUSE ANALYSES METHOD (ICAM)

In any business or organisation, things don’t always go to plan. When things go awry, you need to be prepared to appropriately manage the situation in order to reduce the consequences and any additional risks to the business.

When a health and safety incident occurs in a workplace, a thorough investigation is required to determine the causal factors, establish corrective actions and preventive measures to minimise or eliminate any current or future risk.

It is important that health and safety investigations are never conducted simply to apportion blame or liability for what occurred.

A health and safety incident investigation must be methodical and structured, with an unbiased approach to the information gathering, collation and analysis.
